Technical Capabilities of Nitto Kogyo Co., Ltd. ~Successful Development Case of an Ultra-Miniature Wankel Rotary Engine (0.137cc)~ In 2000, we received a request from a certain university in the United States to design and manufacture an ultra-miniature Wankel rotary engine (RE). The key to the success of this project was the realization of an ultra-miniature RE that could operate 100% independently. The university had been developing several ultra-small REs independently, but when the starter output was reduced to below 50%, the operation would stop, making development difficult. Consequently, the university reached out to us, focusing on our NR-20 series. After receiving a detailed explanation of the project, we utilized our unique technology to start the design and development from scratch. As a result, we completed an ultra-miniature RE with a displacement of 0.137cc, which was smaller than the university's prototype. After delivery, it was reported that the operation test using hydrogen fuel at the university successfully achieved 100% independent operation.
